Schuyler County, Illinois is divided into thirteen civil townships, which serve as local units of government and help organize rural communities across the county. These townships were established as settlement expanded throughout the 19th century.

Each township has its own history, with many early settlements forming around farming communities, churches, schools, and small villages. Together, these townships make up the rural landscape and local government structure that has helped shape Schuyler County for nearly two centuries.
